Product description
A versatile four-channel platform long requested by plenty of users, yet designed with exceptional haptic feedback, remarkable sonic performance, and an effortlessly intuitive layout - that is Spectra 4.
At first glance it may appear understated, but beneath the surface lies tremendous capability waiting to be unlocked. Each of its four channels offers an independent effect send control, trim level adjustment, source selection, and our legendary two-band floating equalizer, widely regarded as the most transparent on the market. The CUE buttons feature a short travel yet a distinctly firm tactile response, making accidental presses virtually impossible. All illuminated buttons emit a soft glow even when switched off, making their position easy to locate in dark environments.
The rotary faders employ specialized potentiometers that replace traditional carbon resistive tracks with a specially engineered composite resistive element. This dramatically extends their lifespan - by an order of magnitude - while introducing a naturally smooth glide with no material abrasion. As a result, knob rotation feels smooth and soft, and issues typical of carbon tracks, such as wear-induced crackling, are completely eliminated.
The monitoring section incorporates our proprietary QuickMix system, which bypasses the adjustable cue/mix control and routes the headphones directly to the master output at the press of a button, without altering any existing cue settings. This is ideal solution for users who require an instant, accurate output monitoring without touching the cue/mix knob or cue assignments - or for those who perform exclusively on headphones, which even no longer need to be removed thanks to this single-button function.
All signals are summed into an innovative voltage-controlled filter featuring independent HPF/LPF knobs for cut-off control and automatically adjusted resonance for both filter types. The filter’s CV reference voltage is locked-in to a laboratory-grade 3V Zener diode with 25 ppm stability, eliminating drift in the cutoff frequency caused by temperature variations. The filter switching circuitry is the first in the world capable of engaging or bypassing the filter truly without any audible click, regardless of signal level, waveform, DC offset, or frequency. When the knobs are not in use, the filter remains completely transparent, imparting no coloration to the audio path, even when engaged.
The isolator section is based on the well-established filter architecture from the Model X, featuring an enhanced 24db/oct slope characteristic, for precise and pronounced cuts. The isolator’s potentiometers, like those of the equalizer, include a firm center detent at the middle position.
Despite its classic appearance, the VU meter incorporates an advanced signal monitoring system with multiple modes selected via a combination of two buttons. It can display cue or master levels, on one meter or both, pre-master or true post-master levels, and can adapt its behavior when any cue or QuickMix mode is active. The meter has been expanded to 15 LEDs per channel for highly accurate peak-level representation across a wide dynamic range.
The recording output can be switched between fixed and variable level via a dedicated button, being send via both RCA and 1/8" jack connectors.
What cannot be seen, but is crucial, is the collection of audio-enhancing technologies within the signal path. The first is a system of transversal filters embedded within the isolator bands, introducing precise phase-related mid-side deviations that give the sound greater depth, spaciousness, and a fresh dimensionality to familiar tracks. The second is a precision line driver paired with custom transformers on the master bus, yielding a more cohesive, saturated, and full presentation thanks to the naturally generated even-order harmonics. Additionally, the phono preamps - similarly as in Model X - incorporate an averaged compensation of recording and playback errors across various stylus systems. Responses have been carefully mapped and implemented into the RIAA correction circuitry, making the phono preamps the most precise on the market, yielding superior fidelity and precision in regard to the source material. Summing is performed through fully balanced summing lines, providing exceptional common-noise rejection and making external interference practically nonexistent, ensuring pure, source-faithful audio.
All of this is enclosed in a reinforced aluminum chassis measuring 280 × 280 mm, making the mixer compatible with the same cases or bags used for transporting 12" vinyl records. A universal desktop power supply is included as standard, fully compatible with worldwide mains voltages, and each unit is shipped with an AC cable type appropriate for the customer’s region - or any type of their choice.
